(1915) Nurse Harwin. Harwin & Co.

Rare and wonderful antique teddy bear by British firm Harwin & Company. The factory in North London ceased in 1930 so very few of these bears survive.

Nurse Harwin measures 15"
Five way jointed, all joints turn and are firm
Feels to be filled with wood wool.
Has very long arms and a hump.
A longish rounded snout with remains of original stitching to mouth and nose.
Please note the small ,old repair to lower right snout.
Lovely, original oily glass eyes with painted backs and large black pupils, please note the eyes are in good condition with no scratches.
All pads have been recovered with a suede type material, they are neat and are sturdy and strong.
Teddy's final seam appears at the front.I cannot see any repairs apart from the snout mentioned.
Only remains of two long stitched claws remain on just one pad.
Mohair is sparse and he has areas of baldness.
Head has quite a lovely covering which is a cinnamon colour.
Though not perfect,he is a rare bear & has the most wonderful expressive face.
