SOLD (1907) Hecla Mr Bear for sale £650

Mr Bear is a very rare Hecla. He is in good condition. He has a good covering of white mohair and a pronounced snout with cinnamon stitching. His ears are set wide apart. His joints are a bit arthritic and his very old replaced pads need some work. His mohair is in good condition for someone of 107 years old. A very handsome chap! Described by his last owner as :-

14" Tall this Teddy Bear was given to me in California by an 88 year old friend in 1980 at that time she said she had had it since she was a small child so I estimated this Teddy Bear is over 100 years old. She was from a very wealthy family. It looks like Mohair and felt paws and feet This poor TEDDY BEAR is missing one ear otherwise it is in very good condition for its age. You will fall in love with him!

This company began making bears to be Americas answer to the successful German Steiff bear. The company made their bears to be almost identical to Steiff bears, they even imported the mohair from Germany! Yet, the company did not advertise much and was out of business in two years. These adorable and handsome bears are very hard to find!
