(1915) Strunz. Colonel Snout

Wonderful antique,German Strunz type teddy bear.Dating circa 1915. No tag. Measuring 23" from pads to tips of ears. Filled entirely from wood wool. Original boot button eyes. As far as I am aware the nose and mouth stitching are original, though I am not familiar with these bears so please look closely at the pictures and make your own judgements. I can see a brownish fabric under the black stitching.Teddy has obvious all over wear to mohair, a few small holes, with a couple of weak areas. An old repair to snout which feels like old glue. There is an old repair, again feels like glue residue to area by left arm. Front seam appears to have an old neat re sewn seam or it maybe original, hard to tell as final stitch is to front. Five stitched claws to one hand pad four remain on the other, and four on each foot pad with the middle (5th)claw stitching worn away. Again I am presuming these are original. Replaced foot and hand pads,(you can see the original felt pads underneath) with wood wool exposed to one pad. Cardboard inserts to large feet. Long arms, very long snout and hump to back.Tilt growler inoperative. Wonderful old bear, with obvious wear but still sturdy and strong for his plus 90 years.A magnificent Bear
