z(1910). Jasper. Harlequin bear. Showcased by Josie Rockett
Jasper is an extremely rare British clown or harlequin bear made between 1910-1915. I am unsure of his maker but he resembles both William J Terry and early Teddy Toys bears. Half of him is made from white mohair and the other half is black! He has a few horizontal nose stitches remaining and no paw stitching. He is entirely wood wool filled, measures 12 inches long and has a non working squeaker in his tummy. He has been given replacement antique glass eyes and has cotton pads. He is such an unusual teddy, I love how his muzzle has squashed in a little giving him the appearance of a cheeky smile, he is such a lovely boy.
