4 Harman (1907) Ellie Kuhner

This early Harman teddy bear was part of the Ellie Kuhner collection which was auctioned in April of 2002. The collection consisted of approximately 4,000 vintage teddy bears, a very rare Steiff, Ideal, Bing, Schuco, Farnell, Chad Valley, Merrythought, Knickerbocker & other teddy bear makers. Ellie Kuhner was a longtime collector and maker of the Ellie bear.
This bear has shoe button eyes, golden brown zigzag cloth nose, which appears to be original, three golden brown claws on feet (pads appear to be original) and the hands point upwards. The head is a little wobbly and the joints are a little loose, but otherwise in good condition. The bear measures 18 inches in length. It comes with a Roosevelt pin and a faded tag that came with the bear. When I purchased the bear at auction, the tag mentioned "early Ideal" and had a price of $525. This teddy from the Ellie Kuhner collection will make a great addition to any hug. However she is a Harman not an Ideal
