(1915-20) Er Ruby

Pre labels and buttons and made during their experimental period, Ruby is a lovely early cork filled Chad Valley bear. She would have been produced between 1915 and 1920. Although similar to the Chad Valley bear designs of the 1920s she has some wonderful early features. Longer tapering arms, more pronounced muzzle, slimmer ankles and rounder feet with the absence of card inserts. It goes without saying that she is a rare bear, but she has had a number of repairs. Her face is a jigsaw of old repairs and patch inserts and her ears are also a little knobbly and frayed from repair. Looking at the nature of the repairs that have been undertaken, I am quite certain her nose and mouth have been restitched. She measures 18 inches lying down.Ruby has such charm about her, if you can forgive her her imperfections then you will love her. Her unusual filling gives her the most wonderful feel to the touch. She really is not for collectors of perfect bears, but if you like rare bears with character then she will absolutely be for you
